SANAA, July 31 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump hinted that he will not make a trade deal with Canada after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that he intends to recognize the state of Palestine subject to certain commitments.
Axios website confirmed that this threat comes one day before Trump’s August 1 deadline for countries to strike a trade deal with the United States or face tariffs.
In Canada’s case, this is a 35% tax on goods imported from its North American neighbor and important trading partner.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: “Wow! Canada just announced its support for a Palestinian state. This will make it very difficult for us to make a trade deal with them. Oh, Canada.”
The Canadian Prime Minister said he would take this action at the UN General Assembly next September, subject to a set of commitments from the Palestinian Authority.
