PARIS, July 30 (YPA) – France, along with 14 other countries, has launched a collective call to recognize the State of Palestine, encouraging more countries to join the movement.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced via the X platform on Wednesday that France, along with these countries, has expressed its intention to recognize Palestine, calling on countries that have not yet done so to join this decision.
Among the countries that have announced their intention to recognize Palestine, nine are doing so for the first time: Australia, Canada, Finland, New Zealand, Portugal, Andorra, Malta, San Marino, and Luxembourg. Other countries that have previously recognized Palestine, such as Iceland, Ireland, and Spain, have reiterated their support.
In a related development, on Tuesday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that Britain intends to recognize the State of Palestine by next September if “Israel” does not take concrete steps toward peace, a ceasefire, and an end to the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Starmer also noted the start of airlifts of aid to the Strip, expressing his hope that at least 500 aid trucks would enter Gaza daily.
