Young woman from Gaza dies after her weight drops by half

GAZA, July 22 (YPA) – The Palestinian young woman, Raheel Muhammad Rasras (32 years old), breathed her last, on Monday evening, in Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, after suffering painfully from complications of severe malnutrition resulting from the blockade and famine.

According to medical sources, Rasras weighed about 50 kilograms months ago, but the blockade and food shortages, which led to the spread of famine, gradually reduced her weight until it reached only 25 kilograms, which led to a sharp deterioration in her health.

The sources indicated that her frail body was no longer able to resist hunger, in the absence of appropriate treatment and malnutrition, until she breathed her last.

The death toll from famine in the Gaza Strip rises to 20 deaths within 48 hours after the death of Raheel Rasras, according to official Palestinian medical sources.
