Shawa: Gaza is experiencing the world’s worst crisis

GAZA, July 22 (YPA) – Amjad Al-Shawa, head of the Palestinian NGO Network, stated on Tuesday that the deliberate starvation and genocidal war being waged by the Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip represents the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.

In a statement to Al Jazeera, he said that 900,000 children are experiencing varying degrees of malnutrition in Gaza.

He noted that Israeli occupation forces raided several international organization offices in Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Medical sources in Gaza confirmed Tuesday morning the deaths of two children — Yousef Al-Safadi from northern Gaza and Abdul Hamid Al-Ghalban from Khan Younis in the south — as a result of acute malnutrition and starvation.

Hospitals across the Gaza Strip are currently overwhelmed with hundreds of patients of all ages suffering from severe hunger and exhaustion, with many arriving in critical condition.

Additionally, medical staff report cases of memory loss and extreme fatigue caused by prolonged starvation.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) previously warned that malnutrition among children under the age of five in the Gaza Strip has doubled between March and June due to the ongoing Israeli blockade.

It added that UNRWA’s health centers conducted approximately 74,000 screenings, identifying around 5,500 cases of severe acute malnutrition and more than 800 cases of critical wasting.
