SANAA, July 20 (YPA) – The “Handala” ship set sail from Italy on its 37th voyage to break the 18-month blockade on the Gaza Strip.
The ship, named after the famous figure Naji al-Ali, is a symbol of global solidarity and a voice for justice.
The “Handala” crew includes about 20 international activists, including two French MPs and prominent humanitarian figures such as Irish activist Queva Butterly.
The ship does not carry weapons, but rather children’s toys, messages of solidarity, and in-kind donations from Italian families.
The voyage aims to deliver humanitarian aid and emphasize civil society’s rejection of the blockade, despite expected security and legal challenges, and Israeli threats to intercept the ship.
It’s worth noting that out of 37 previous attempts, only 5 ships succeeded in reaching Gaza.
