GAZA, July 12 (YPA) – Dozens of members of the Laqmush tribe in the oil-rich Shabwa province staged on Friday a protest rally against the coalition-run secret prisons and detention centers.
In the rally, the participants demanded the disclosure of the fate of their sons, who have been forcibly disappeared in the prisons the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Aden since April 2016.
The tribal rally in Habban district, with the Laqmush tribesmen raised banners demanding the release of the sons of Sheikh Saeed Maqdah al-Qamishi, who have been arrested in STC prisons.
They also denounced the collapse of living conditions, services, and electricity outages in the province.
The protesters accused the UAE-backed authorities of marginalizing the district’s residents from the most basic services and necessities of life, as well as failing to follow up on the the enforced disappearance of the al-Qamishi sons.
They wondered, where do Shabwa’s oil revenues go, given the continued unpaid salaries of teachers demanding their rights and their announcement of a general strike at the beginning of the new school year?
