ABYAN, July 06 (YPA) – The so-called “Coordination Council” in Abyan province, which is under the control of the UAE-backed Transitional Council (STC) factions, announced on Sunday the launch date for a wave of popular anger against leaders accused of corruption and security chaos in the province.
In a statement, the council stated that a popular demonstration will begin next Thursday afternoon in the center of Zinjbar city, the province’s capital, to express its rejection of the corruption of the Saudi-led coalition-backed government and the chaos of the STC factions, in addition to the denunciation of the ongoing power and water outages and deteriorating living conditions.
The council’s statement emphasized that the protest aims to demand the departure of corrupt local leaders loyal to the coalition, who have failed to fulfill their duties in maintaining security and stability and providing basic services.
Abyan province’s districts are witnessing sharp disagreements between leaders of the STC factions and local authorities loyal to the Islah Party in a struggle to control taxes and fees imposed on drivers on main roads.
