OCCUPIED PALESTINE, June 30 (YPA) – Hebrew Channel 12 reported on Sunday evening that significant rifts have emerged between the military and political leadership in “Israel” regarding the continuation of the war in the Gaza Strip.
According to the channel, the Israeli occupation army opposes a full-scale occupation of Gaza and instead recommends pursuing a prisoner exchange deal.
The report noted that during a recent security discussion, the Chief of Staff stated that the army has already subdued Hamas, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu disagreed, insisting that the military operation must continue.
The occupation military command has reportedly urged the political leadership to clearly define the next steps regarding Gaza.
Meanwhile, Channel 13 quoted senior Israeli officials describing the coming days as “decisive,” referring to what they called a “golden opportunity” that may not come again.
Hebrew media, citing informed sources, also reported a growing internal strife within the army over the direction of the war, just as the military prepares for what has been described as an unprecedented large-scale offensive in the Gaza Strip.
According to the Hebrew news site Walla, there is a notable split within the ranks of the army—between those advocating for continued military operations and others calling for an end to the war.
Channel 12 also reported that the occupation army is set to present the Security Cabinet (the “Cabinet”) with a range of strategic options for Gaza, including the possibility of completing the occupation of the Strip or reaching a negotiated deal with Hamas.
This comes as Zionist Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi is expected to inform cabinet ministers that the army is close to achieving its declared objectives in Gaza, according to Hebrew media reports.
However, the statement comes amid contradictory reports from Yedioth Ahronoth, which cited senior military officials acknowledging that Hamas’s military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, remains active.
The group is reportedly still operating from Khan Younis to Gaza City and its outskirts—highlighting the ongoing difficulty of the Israeli military campaign months after it began.
These revelations follow leaks indicating that the occupation army is considering deploying five full divisions—rather than partial units as in previous operations.
According to Hebrew Walla news site, the plan also includes what may become one of the largest forced evacuations of Palestinian civilians since the war began.
