SANAA, June 27 (YPA) -The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning on Friday forecasted rainfall of varying intensity, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms, across parts of several governorates, including Taiz, Ibb, Dhalea, Dhamar, Raymah, Mahwit, Hajjah, western Sana’a, Amran, and Saada. Rain is also expected in parts of the mountainous regions of Lahj and Abyan.
The center indicated in its 24-hour weather bulletin that coastal areas will experience clear to partly cloudy skies, hot and humid conditions, and relatively dusty weather, with a chance of scattered rainfall over parts of the eastern coasts and the Socotra Archipelago.
The center noted that winds are expected to be strong to very strong over the Socotra Archipelago, the eastern coasts, and the Gulf of Aden, causing sea disturbances and high waves.
The weather in desert areas will be clear to partly cloudy, hot to extremely hot, and dry. Winds will be northerly to northeasterly, moderate to occasionally active, and may stir up dust and sand, according to the center
The center warned residents in mountainous areas where rain is expected to be cautious of thunderstorms and to avoid being in or crossing flood channels during and after rainfall.
It also warned sea-goers, fishermen, and ship captains of rough seas and high waves around the Socotra Archipelago, the eastern Gulf of Aden, and the eastern coastlines.
The center further warned residents of desert regions, interior plateaus, lowlands, and coastal areas of hot to extremely hot conditions, advising them to avoid direct sun exposure during midday hours.
