Britain intends to buy 12 fighter jets capable of carrying nuclear weapons

SANAA, June 25 (YPA) – The British news agency (PA Media) reported that Britain will buy 12 F-35A fighter jets and join NATO’s airborne nuclear mission, in a move confirmed during British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s participation in the alliance’s summit in The Hague.

These aircraft are a modified version of the F-35B fighter jets already used by the United Kingdom, and they are capable of carrying conventional weapons, but can also be equipped with nuclear bombs.

Starmer said that the United Kingdom “can no longer take peace for granted” and that this move shows ministers are investing in our national security.

Starmer met with leaders of other NATO countries, including US President Donald Trump, in The Hague, where they are expected to formally agree to a pledge to spend 5% of GDP on defense and security.
