Prominent tribal leader injured in assassination attempt in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, June 24 (YPA) – A prominent tribal leader was injured on Tuesday after being shot by armed individuals in the city of Al-Qatn in the Hadramout province, which is under the control of Saudi-led coalition factions in eastern Yemen.

A local source in the province confirmed that Sheikh Adel Balhamid Al-Nahdi was wounded in an assassination attempt in central Al-Qatn, although more details about the incident were not provided.

This comes after a previous assassination attempt on Sheikh Al-Nahdi at the end of May, when his vehicle was targeted by gunfire in the same area.

Hadramout, known for its oil resources, has been experiencing unprecedented security chaos due to the conflict between the Emirati- and Saudi-backed factions since early 2016.
