Depletion of Israeli air defense capacities is an Iranian tactic that worries “Tel Aviv”

SANAA, June 22 (YPA) – During its intense escalation against the Israeli occupation, Iran used more lethal missiles, which worried Israel due to the destructive effects they caused in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Beersheba.

Israeli concern has recently increased, not only because missiles and drones have penetrated the American-Israeli air defense system; rather, news of a dwindling supply of missile interceptors, particularly the Iron Dome, has had a terrifying effect on Tel Aviv.

The recent Iranian missile launches have sparked controversy over the possibility of intercepting them, or the reasons for the failure to intercept them and their bypass Israeli air defense systems.

The debates concluded that the power of these missiles depends on their high speed at striking targets, meaning that the missiles’ speed precedes their interception time, a very high speed of up to Mach 13-14.

Exhausting the Israeli army’s air defenses has become a deliberate Iranian tactic, relying on intensifying missile strikes in conjunction with the launch of drones to increase the cost of Israeli losses and exacerbate the deterioration of the Israeli economy, which has been suffering since Israel’s humiliation in Gaza at the hands of Hamas in the “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle on October 7, 2023.

The Economic Times website revealed that Israel spent approximately $1.45 billion in the first two days of the fighting alone. This includes offensive expenses, such as the initial attack on Iran, which included flight hours and ammunition costing $593 million. The remainder was distributed to defensive expenses, such as missile interception systems and the mobilization of reserve forces, according to the report, which may be from a Western perspective.

Observers of the Iranian war against the occupation have pointed out that “Israel is losing millions of dollars daily.” The Wall Street Journal believes that a month of fighting with Tehran would be far more costly than the cost of the Israeli war on Gaza.

Some estimates so far indicate that rebuilding or repairing the damage could cost the Israeli entity at least $400 million, increasing pressure on it to end the war quickly.

Hebrew media, citing a US official, revealed that Washington estimates that Israel’s stockpile of interceptor missiles is close to depleting. This will become one of the most significant military problems facing Tel Aviv, as it relies on interceptor munitions to counter Iranian strikes or those coming from Yemen.
