GAZA, June 21 (YPA) – UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, reported that the Israeli occupation has been preventing fuel shipments from entering the Gaza Strip for 16 weeks.
Dujarric noted that UN officials were able to recover a quantity of fuel that was already in the Gaza Strip from the Tahrir station in Rafah on Wednesday.
The same spokesman added that a limited amount of this fuel was delivered on Thursday to public facilities in the southern Gaza Strip, allowing the continued operations of desalination plants, water distribution truck services, and sewage pumping stations.
Dujarric indicated that fuel was also sent to the northern Gaza Strip on Friday, but “fuel instability and fuel shortages are restricting operations and resulting in a reduction in working hours and capacity.”
He stated that UN humanitarian officials also say that the Israeli occupation authorities issued a new evacuation order for two neighborhoods housing hundreds of families in Gaza Governorate, alleging that Palestinian rockets were fired from that area.
As part of the Israeli occupation forces’ “brutal” war on Gaza, medical sources reported that dozens of Palestinians were killed by Israeli army fire in the Strip since dawn on Friday, including 25 people waiting for aid, according to the Palestinian Press Agency.
