ABYAN, June 05 (YPA) -Yemeni media sources reported that unidentified aircraft, believed to be American, carried out two airstrikes on Wednesday morning targeting Wadi Al-Radhaf, east of Mudiyah district in Abyan province.
According to the sources, the strikes, conducted by drones, targeted members of the so-called Al-Qaeda organization, which the US has claimed to be combating in Yemen for nearly two decades.
The sources confirmed that this aerial operation, which violates Yemen’s sovereignty in areas controlled by the Saudi-led coalition, is a direct extension of US’s escalating air campaign in the southern provinces.
The sources also noted that over the past two weeks, US aircraft have carried out similar offensive operations on sites in Wadi Sarri and the Tasabah area, located northeast of Khabar al-Maraqisha, killing and injuring several local residents in regions known to harbor the group.
It is worth mentioning that the US has been accused of supporting and financing terrorist organizations in Yemen and other countries in the region, a fact Washington acknowledged years ago through former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
