SANAA, June 03 (YPA) – Yemeni student, Gubran Khalil Al-Maljami, drowned off the coast of India yesterday, Monday, in a tragic accident that occurred just two days after celebrating his graduation from an Indian university.
Sources close to the deceased’s family reported that Al-Maljami was with a number of his fellow students on a sea trip to celebrate the completion of his university studies when he was involved in the drowning accident that claimed his life.
The sources explained that the joy that overwhelmed the student and his classmates on the occasion of the graduation turned into a tragedy, as Al-Maljami’s death was a great shock to his family and loved ones in Yemen and among the Yemeni community in India.
It is worth noting that the deceased student, who hailed from the Yemeni governorate of Ibb, had recently graduated from the College of Engineering, specializing in information technology (IT).
Arrangements are currently underway, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to transport the young man’s body to his hometown in Yemen for burial.
