OCCUPIED PALESTINE, June 03 (YPA) – A wave of concern has swept through Israeli political and security circles following a surprise move by the US State Department to dismiss three senior officials known for their strong support of “Israel” from key positions in the White House and the National Security Council.
According to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, the decision was made by the administration of former US President Donald Trump in recent days.
The report indicated that the dismissals are linked to growing tensions between Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, particularly over the possibility of a military strike on Iran and the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
The newspaper identified three officials removed from their posts as the following:
Merav Sarn, a Haifa-born dual Israeli-American citizen recently appointed as head of the Iran and Israel division at the National Security Council.
Eric Trager, who served as head of the Middle East and North Africa division.
Morgan Ortagus, deputy to presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and US envoy to Lebanon.
Trump had previously warned Netanyahu against taking any steps that could harm the nuclear agreement negotiations between the United States and Iran, during a phone call that took place between them last week, according to The Jerusalem Post, citing a senior White House official and another source familiar with the call.
