Assassination attempt targets senior security official in Aden

ADEN, June 02 (YPA) – A security official in the southern Yemeni city of Aden, under the Saudi-led coalition’s control, was subjected to a new assassination attempt on Monday.

A human rights source in the city reported that unidentified gunmen driving an unmarked civilian car in the wrong direction pointed their weapons at the director of Aden’s traffic police, Adnan al-Qalaa, after threatening a traffic officer who tried to stop the vehicle for violating traffic rules.

The source explained that the gunmen, believed to be affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), brandished their weapons at al-Qalaa, but he managed to contain the situation and prevent an escalation that could have had dire consequences.

It is worth noting that the director of traffic in Aden was attacked and kidnapped on April 10 by members of the so-called Special Security Forces in the al-Arish area of Khormaksar, prompting traffic police to declare a general strike in the city.
