Meteorology expects warm to dry weather in desert, coastal areas

SANAA, May 31 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology warned citizens on Saturday of warm to dry weather in desert and coastal areas of Yemen.

In its weather bulletin, the center advised residents of these areas to avoid direct exposure to sunshine.

It affirmed that the weather would be clear to partly cloudy, relatively hot during the day in the highlands, with scattered rain showers, in parts of the provinces of Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz, Dhalea, and Abyan and Lahj, in addition to Amran, Mahweet, Hajjah, Rayma, Shabwa, and western Sanaa.

The center pointed out that the coastal areas may be characterized by clear to partly cloudy, hot and humid weather during the day, with the maximum temperatures reaching between 34 to39 degrees Celsius on the Socotra Archipelago, the western Gulf of Aden and the entrance to Bab al-Mandab.

“The weather in the desert areas will be clear to very hot during the day, with maximum temperatures ranging between 38 and 44 degrees Celsius, according to the center. Active winds reaching speeds of 20 knots.”
