Hamas receives new US proposal for ceasefire in Gaza

GAZA, May 29 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced on Thursday that the movement’s leadership has received through intermediaries a new proposal presented by U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff aimed at reaching an agreement to stop the ongoing Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The movement said in a brief statement that it “is studying this proposal responsibly, in a way that serves the interests of the Palestinian people, ensures their relief, and leads to a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.”

This announcement comes a day after Hamas confirmed that it is awaiting the final response from the Israeli occupation side regarding the general framework that was recently agreed upon with the American envoy, Wittekov, during the indirect negotiations held in the Qatari capital, Doha.
