Several EU countries to summon Israeli ambassadors over Jenin shooting incident

WORLD, May 22 (YPA) -Italy, Spain and Belgium on Wednesday  strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ use of live ammunition against a diplomatic delegation while they were at the entrance of Jenin refugee camp to witness the dire conditions within the camp

They announced that they would summon the Israeli ambassadors to their countries after the Israeli occupation forces opened fire on a European and Arab diplomatic delegation during their visit to the outskirts of Jenin refugee camp, in the northern occupied West Bank, to observe the suffering of the citizens.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani condemned the attack on Wednesday, calling on Israel to provide an immediate explanation and emphasizing that threats against diplomats are unacceptable.

The Spanish Foreign Ministry also condemned the attack, as reported by France Press. The Ministry confirmed that one Spanish diplomat was part of the group but assured that they were unharmed.

Spain further stated that it is in contact with other affected countries to coordinate a joint response to the incident, which they strongly denounce.

Belgian Foreign Minister Maxim Prevost expressed his shock at the Israeli forces’ assault on the diplomatic delegation, noting that the convoy was clearly identifiable. He called on Israel to provide a convincing explanation and confirmed that the Belgian diplomat in the delegation was unharmed.
