OCCUPIED PALESTINE, May 21 (YPA) – Former prime minister Ehud Olmert confirmed that on Tuesday that what “Israel” is currently doing in the Gaza Strip is “very close to a war crime.”
In his remarks, Olmert said: “Israel is waging “war without a purpose – a war without a chance of achieving anything that can save the lives of the hostages.”
He added: “The “obvious appearance” of the fighting in Gaza is that thousands of Palestinian civilians are being killed, along with a lot of Israeli troops. From every point of view, this is obnoxious and outrageous.”
Meanwhile, the leader of the “Democrats” party (a coalition of the Labor and Meretz parties), Yair Golan, said on Tuesday: “A rational state does not wage war against civilians. It doesn’t kill children for fun, and it doesn’t adopt policies of mass expulsion.”
He warned, “Israel is on a path to becoming a pariah nation — like apartheid-era South Africa — if it does not change course and act like a sane country.”
It is worth noting that Olmert’s statements come amid growing international pressure on “Israel” and the continuation of its war on the Gaza Strip for the 592nd day.
Netanyahu’s government is accused of committing genocide that has resulted in more than 175,000 Palestinians killed or injured—most of them women and children—with more than 11,000 missing.
