Hamas sends message to US administration regarding negotiations

GAZA, May 13 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, addressed on Tuesday a message to the US administration through its leading member, Mahmoud Mardawi, urging Washington to “continue its efforts to stop the brutal war led by Netanyahu in the Gaza Strip.”

In a press statement on Tuesday, Mardawi affirmed Hamas’s readiness to enter into negotiations leading to a ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, and a prisoner exchange, in addition to the start of the reconstruction of the war-damaged areas.

He emphasized that the release of Israeli soldier Idan Alexander was the result of serious communication with the US administration and mediator efforts and not the result of what he described as “Zionist aggression or the illusion of military pressure.”

Mardawi criticized Israeli occupation’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for misleading his citizens and failing to free prisoners through war tactics. He asserted that Alexander’s return demonstrates that serious negotiations and a prisoner exchange deal are the only way for repatriating prisoners and ending the war.

Following Alexander’s release, Hamas called on the administration of US President Donald Trump to intensify its diplomatic efforts to end the war, declaring its “readiness to begin negotiations leading to a comprehensive agreement.”

For its part, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that the United States is putting pressure on the Israeli government to enter into talks with “Hamas” in an effort to end the war.
