ADEN, May 12 (YPA) -The Aden Security Department on Monday imposed a ban on all public protests against the ongoing economic collapse and lack of basic services in the city, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition.
The department stated that anyone wishing to organize any event must “clarify the location and purpose of the activity and obtain prior permission.”
It warned all the citizens against any attempts to gather in protest without prior approval, under the pretext of protecting everyone’s interests.
Activists from Aden believe the decision aims to protect the coalition countries, following the rise of popular chants demanding the coalition’s departure from Yemen’s southern and eastern regions .
It is worth noting that the Taiz Security Administration had issued a similar decision in early March, as public anger increasingly blamed the coalition for the economic collapse, the depreciation of the local currency, and the worsening poverty in coalition-held areas .
