WORLD, May 07 (YPA) – Another F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet from the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier has been lost in the Red Sea, the second jet lost from the carrier in just over a week, US sources familiar with the matter told CNN.
This comes just hours after the Pentagon confirmed the loss of another jet of the same model in the same area.
CNN quoted informed American sources as stating that the two incidents are “separate”, but they indicate similar circumstances surrounding the loss of both aircraft. No details were provided regarding the causes of the crashes or the fate of the pilots.
In a brief statement, the Pentagon confirmed it is “closely monitoring the situation” regarding the loss of one of the F/A-18 fighters operating from the USS Truman in the Red Sea. However, the statement did not offer additional details about the circumstances or search and rescue efforts.
The successive loss of two American fighter jets of the same model in the same region raises questions about potential common factors and the consequences of the U.S. aggressive war on Yemen.
