Palestinian Ministry of Health condemns Israeli occupation’s crimes, warns of humanitarian disaster threatening children

GAZA, May 05 (YPA) – The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip condemned the continued Israeli occupation practices against civilians in the Strip on Sunday, stressing that the aggression is not limited to bombing and the use of lethal weapons but extends to the starvation of more than two million Palestinians amid a stifling blockade that is worsening the humanitarian crisis day after day.

The ministry noted that children are paying the heaviest price in this war, with the number of martyrs exceeding 16,000 since the start of the aggression. The number of child deaths due to malnutrition has risen to 57, amid a near-total absence of the basic necessities of life.

Deprivation of vaccinations and health care

The ministry confirmed that the occupation is preventing the entry of polio vaccines and obstructing the arrival of essential medical supplies, posing a real threat to public health and threatening the re-emergence of diseases previously controlled.

It noted that pregnant mothers and children deprived of healthcare face critical conditions, given the collapse of the health system and the targeting of hospital infrastructure.

Dispondainous situations in the places of displacement

The ministry warned that the majority of Gaza’s children are now homeless, living in overcrowded and unsanitary displacement centers that lack food security and medical care, amid widespread disease and malnutrition, threatening a new wave of deaths among the most vulnerable groups.

Call for urgent international intervention

Concluding its statement, the Ministry of Health called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to halt Israeli violations, provide safe humanitarian corridors for the entry of food and medicine, and ensure protection for children, women, and the elderly. The ministry emphasized that the continued international silence on the crimes committed in Gaza constitutes not only moral inaction but also complicity in the catastrophe that claims the lives of innocent people day after day.
