ADEN, May 03 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions have abducted several prominent activists in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition, following their public criticism of the catastrophic collapse of basic services, particularly electricity.
Human rights sources in the city reported that YouTuber Mustafa Al-Hasani, known online as “King of Dar Saad”, was abducted by STC armed elements after posting a video criticizing the deterioration of electricity services in Aden, amid silence from both the pro-coalition government and the STC regarding the suffering of the people.
The sources added that Al-Hasani’s whereabouts still unknown after he was taken to a detention facility, amid growing outrage and resentment among activists.
This comes after STC factions carried out a series of abductions targeting dozens of activists, including Moataz Al-Rawssi, who was taken from in front of a furniture store in Mansoura district, along with several protesters, who took to the streets to condemn the ongoing power outages since the beginning of last week.
The service and living conditions in Aden and other southern provinces have reached a catastrophic state due to the continued collapse of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies.
