Stifling electricity crisis hits Mahra

MAHRA, May 01 (YPA) – A stifling electricity crisis hit, on Thursday, the city of Al-Ghaydah, the center of Al-Mahra governorate, which is under the control of the coalition in eastern Yemen.

Local sources confirmed that Al-Ghaydah is experiencing a stifling electricity crisis due to the inability of the coalition-affiliated government to provide fuel for power plants in Al-Mahra and a number of governorates, including Aden, Lahj, Shabwa, and Abyan, which have been witnessing angry protests for the past few days.

The sources explained that the power outage comes amid silence from the local authorities affiliated with the coalition in a tragedy that has been repeated every year since 2016, indicating to the agency that the power outage has caused widespread discontent among the people with the rise in temperatures in the governorate.

They added that the suffering of the people has doubled due to the cessation of all basic services related to electricity, especially water and hospitals, and portends a disaster among patients, children, and the elderly without any emergency solutions by the authorities.
