ADEN, April 24 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) received a military blow on Thursday in the city of Mukalla, the provincial capital of Hadramout, coinciding with a mass calls for demonstration in the city.
Images of the military parade that the UAE-backed Second Military Region factions carried out in Mukalla had showed raising the Yemeni Republic’s flag, not the STC’s, indicating widespread rejection of the STC in the province.
The STC’s banners disappeared despite the presence of STC’s vice head Ahmed bin Braik, who arrived in Mukalla from the UAE in recent days in an attempt to improve the STC’s image following the tribal alliance’s declaration of “self-rule” independent of all other parties.
On the other hand, southern military expert Khaled Al-Nasi confirmed, in a post on “X” on Thursday that “what is happening in Mukalla is a conflict between local tools that do not have the ability to change, indicating that “their conflict is only for positions and gains,” in reference to the Saudi and Emirati tools represented by the “tribal alliance and the STC.”
Al-Nasi stated that the STC did not have real intention of bringing about change, correcting the flaws, or listening to the suffering of citizens.
“No speeches or slogans have been effective with the STC at the present time to outbid under the so-called “restoration of the South,” he added.
