Hamas calls for release of Jordanian detainees held for supporting Palestine

GAZA, April 22 (YPA) – The Hamas movement expressed its strong commitment to the security and stability of Jordan and all Arab and Islamic countries and urged the Jordanian government to immediately release 16 detainees accused of trying to manufacture missiles and drones.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Hamas affirmed that it is confident that the actions of the detained Jordanian youth were motivated by supporting the Palestinian cause, objecting to the ongoing war in Gaza, and defending Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, without seeking in any way to destabilize the security or stability of Jordan.

Hamas stressed the importance of the Jordanian authorities appreciating “the noble national motives of the detainees and dealing with this case with a spirit of wisdom and national responsibility to support the strong historical relationship between the Jordanian and Palestinian peoples in confronting the Zionist enemy and its schemes.”

The movement emphasized that supporting the Palestinian resistance is “a national and moral duty and a right guaranteed by all international laws and conventions. It should not be condemned or criminalized but rather celebrated, and its advocates thanked for its pivotal role in confronting the occupation and its crimes.”
