WASHINGTON, April 19 (YPA) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) strongly condemned the US airstrikes on Yemen on Thursday night, which killed 80 people, describing the attack as a “war crime.”
In a statement, Edward Ahmed Mitchell, CAIR’s deputy director, emphasized their strong opposition to the airstrikes targeting civilians and infrastructure in Yemen under the administration of US President Donald Trump.
Mitchell noted that attacking a facility housing civilians working at a fuel port, as well as bombing medical teams rushing to help the injured, clearly constitutes a war crime. He drew attention to another US attack on an outdoor gathering after Eid al-Fitr, also describing it as a “war crime.”
Mitchell added that US President Donald Trump had promised to withdraw the United States from the ongoing wars, but instead he plunged the country into a mysterious conflict to serve the interests of the Israeli government. He made it clear that American foreign policy prioritizes Israel over the interests of the USA.
He emphasized that resolving the conflicts in the Middle East can only be accomplished by halting the genocide occurring in Gaza.
