GAZA, April 09 (YPA) -At least 35 Palestinians were killed and dozens others injured on Wednesday in an Israeli airstrike that hit a residential block in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, for Gaza Civil Defense said.
Mahmoud Basal, a spokesperson for Gaza Civil Defense, told AFP that rescue teams were still searching for survivors and bodies trapped under the rubble.
Palestinian security sources said the strike targeted eight adjacent homes, destroying the entire area with multiple missiles.
The source noted that ambulance and rescue crews are still searching for missing persons under the rubble of the targeted homes and buildings.
The majority of the victims had relocated from the outskirts to the center of the neighborhood and were unable to seek refuge elsewhere due to the absence of available shelter.
Medical sources indicated that the death toll is likely to rise due to the critical condition of some of the wounded.
