Sanaa condemns the US aggression on Yemen historical landmarks

SANAA, April 09 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based General Authority for Antiquities and Museums strongly condemned the brutal US aggression that targeted the historic “Al-Qashla” castle on Jabal Nuqum, which rises about 500 metres (1,600 feet) above the capital Sanaa.

In a statement, the Authority considered this targeting a blatant attack on Yemeni history and heritage.

The statement stressed that the attack caused significant damage to this ancient archaeological and historical landmark, which is considered one of the most prominent historical and architectural landmarks, bearing national and cultural symbolism.

“Al-Qashla castle is one of the historical symbols that embodies the cultural depth of Yemen,” it added. “Targeting it represents a major crime that adds to the series of violations targeting Yemeni identity and civilization.”

The Authority’s statement called on all international organizations concerned with protecting human heritage to assume their legal and moral responsibilities for targeting humanity’s shared cultural heritage.
