Protest outside US Embassy in Nouakchott rejects Israeli genocide in Gaza

NOUAKCHOTT, April 06 (YPA) – Hundreds of Mauritanians have been protesting outside the US embassy in the capital, Nouakchott, since Saturday evening, expressing solidarity with Gaza and rejecting the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The participants began gathering around the embassy on Saturday evening, and the organizers confirmed that the sit-in will continue until this morning.

The sit-in was organized by the student initiative for the fight against “Zionist infiltration”, a non-governmental organization dedicated to organizing events in support of the Palestinian people.

The participants in the sit-in held the US responsible for the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza and called for the severing of diplomatic ties with Washington.

The organizing body urged all participants to take part in a mass gathering in front of the US Embassy to condemn the ongoing genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza by the Israeli occupation forces.

According to local media reports, Mauritanian tribes have raised donations amounting to around $16 million.
