Aden Airport Meteorology Union calls for immediate restructuring amid declining services

ADEN, April 06 (YPA) – The Meteorology Employees’ Union at Aden International Airport has warned of serious consequences due to the deterioration of services at the airport.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Union called for the immediate dismissal of the acting deputy head of the Meteorology Sector and restructuring of the sector due to poor management, exclusionary policies, and mismanagement of international grants.

The statement highlighted the ongoing decline of the meteorological office and the neglect by authorities loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, which is threatening the stability of this vital sector and its essential services for protecting lives and property.

The statement called for the immediate dismissal and accountability of the acting deputy head, citing systemic failures during his tenure.

It further demanded comprehensive sector restructuring to guarantee equal opportunities and significant service quality improvements.”

The union also demanded proper training for all employees, the appointment of an independent training manager, and the provision of essential equipment—including a modern weather station and barometric calibration devices—to restore operational standards.

The union gave pro-coalition authorities a one-week deadline to respond to its demands, threatening escalation while demanding full transparency over FAO grant disbursements.
