SANAA, April 02 (YPA) – US warplanes launched a series of intensive airstrikes on several areas in Yemen on Tuesday evening, targeting the provinces of Hodeida, Hajjah, and Saada. This comes as part of the ongoing military escalation that has been ongoing since March 18.
Continuous aggression and intensive strikes
These strikes came less than 24 hours after US aircraft launched 15 raids on various areas in Saada province, in addition to five other raids targeting the Jarban area in Sanhan district, south of the capital, Sanaa.
According to local sources, US forces used “bunker” concussion bombs in these attacks, increasing the severity of the destruction and casualties.
Direct targeting of infrastructure
Local sources reported that the US aggression directly targeted the water project building east of Al-Mansouriyah District in Hodeida province with three violent airstrikes, resulting in the deaths of three civilians and the injury of two others with varying degrees of severity, according to a preliminary toll.
For the second consecutive day, US warplanes launched two airstrikes east of Saada province, targeting civilian targets.
The strikes extended to Hajjah province
In Hajjah province, US warplanes carried out three airstrikes on Washah district, raising concerns of further escalation that could exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the region.
Growing humanitarian repercussions
The escalation of the US aggression against Yemen comes amid growing concerns about the impact of the airstrikes on civilians and essential infrastructure in Yemen, especially with the ongoing blockade and deteriorating humanitarian conditions.
These attacks raise questions about the strategic objectives of these operations at a time when Yemenis are suffering from a stifling humanitarian crisis resulting from the years-long war.
Local and international reactions
To date, no official statements have been issued by the US regarding the motives for the escalation of aggression against Yemen, while observers expect these strikes to lead to increased regional tensions.
For their part, human rights groups and humanitarian organizations called for an end to these US attacks, warning of the worsening humanitarian situation in Yemen as a result of the ongoing US military escalation.
