“Israel” closes Karam Abu Salem crossing for fifth day, blocking aid to Gaza

GAZA, March 06 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation continues, on Thursday, for the fifth  consecutive day, to close the Karam Abu Salem crossing southeast of the Gaza Strip, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid and goods into the region.

The closure of the crossing comes after a decision by the head of the occupation government, Benjamin Netanyahu, to halt all goods and supplies to the Gaza Strip starting last Sunday.

Netanyahu is using the suspension of aid as a form of blackmail and pressure, in an attempt to avoid entering into negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, which was originally scheduled to begin on February 3, 2025.

With the ongoing closure of the crossings and the prevention of aid entry, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is worsening, further increasing the suffering of more than two million Palestinians already living in dire conditions due to the ongoing Israeli genocide that has lasted for 15 months.

From October 7, 2023, to January 19, 2025, “Israel” carried out a campaign of genocide in Gaza, leaving more than 160,000 Palestinians dead or injured, the majority of whom were women and children, as well as over 14,000 people missing.
