UNICEF: “Israel’s” halt in humanitarian aid deliveries into Gaza Strip will have “devastating consequences”

GAZA, March 04 (YPA) – The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Monday warned that Israel’s halt in humanitarian aid deliveries into the Gaza Strip will have “devastating consequences” for children and families struggling to survive.

UNICEF urgently called for taking immediate and effective measures to enable the provision of urgently needed basic services and to facilitate the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip through multiple crossings.

“The aid restrictions will severely compromise lifesaving operations for civilians,” UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa Edouard Beigbeder said.

“It is imperative that the ceasefire remains in place, and that aid is allowed to flow freely so we can continue to scale up the humanitarian response.”

During the first phase of the ceasefire, UNICEF and its partners were able to bring in more essential supplies and reach more children in need, according to Edouard Beigbeder.
