Israeli date producers admit difficulty in distributing dates globally

SANAA, March 04 (YPA) – Boycott committees and movements, including the UK-based Islamic Human Rights Commission, have called on all Muslims and others to boycott Israeli dates this Ramadan, and to help spread awareness and combat their sale in stores.

In a statement on February 18, the committee called for exposing the fraud of Israeli companies by labelling their products as being from Palestine, or not putting the country of origin on the packaging at all, which is illegal under British law.

The Israeli date trade is estimated at $340 to $500 million annually, according to the Middle East Eye report, and the value of Israeli date exports alone reached $338 million in 2022.
