SANAA, Feb. 27 (YPA) – The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched a campaign to collect $200 million to provide humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza during the month of Ramadan.
The official Antara news agency reported, on Thursday, that the campaign was launched in cooperation with the Indonesian Ulema Council and the National Zakat Agency.
Anis Matta, Deputy Foreign Minister for Islamic World Affairs, said the campaign aims to donate about $200 million to the Palestinian people.
He added that the campaign was the result of 3 months of dialogue on distributing aid to the Palestinian people during the ceasefire period, reconstruction and building a symbol for Indonesia.
Matta said that civil society institutions participated in this campaign and collected donations close to the specified amount.
He also pointed out that the campaign will start on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to start in early March.
