UAE-backed factions abduct pro-coalition journalist in Taiz

TAIZ, Feb. 25 (YPA) – A journalist loyal to the Saudi-led coalition was kidnapped by extremist UAE-backed factions in the city of Mocha, west of Taiz Governorate.

Informed sources in the city revealed that “Hossam Bakri,” a correspondent for the pro-coalition “Yemen Today” channel, was abducted on Monday by the UAE-funded al-Amaliqa (“Giants”) Brigades and taken him to one of their notorious detention centers.

The abduction of Bakri was said to have been ordered by the extremist leader “Ali Al-Kanini,” appointed by the UAE as the commander of the “7th al-Amaliqa Brigade,” due to a post he made on Facebook.

The “Journalists Syndicate” condemned the abduction of Bakri in a statement today, calling it an attack on freedom of expression and demanding his immediate release and accountability of those behind his abduction.

It is worth noting that the  abduction of Bakri came after his criticism of faction leaders, accusing them of creating problems, interfering in local authority affairs, and using repression, threats, and a thirst for the blood of citizens.
