ADEN, Feb. 25 (YPA) – Aden University, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition factions, announced on Tuesday the cancellation of a master’s degree granted to a leader in the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in a scientific scandal that shook the foundations of the university.
The university’s council decided to revoke the master’s degree awarded to leader Abdel-Raouf Al-Saqaf and banned him from continuing his studies at the university in the future.
Additionally, the council barred the academic supervisor of the theses, Dr. Ali Abubakar Al-Zamki, from supervising or evaluating any scientific research and referred him for investigation.
This decision came after significant public pressure demanding transparency and the revelation of the truth, following a scandal involving the university awarding academic degrees to prominent STC leaders.
One of these leaders is a commander of the “Security Belt” forces in Lahj, and the other holds the position of “Director of Mansoura Prison.”
It was revealed that the theses submitted by these leaders were plagiarized and had previously been discussed by other researchers at the university, including by the same academic supervisor.
The academic scandal has shaken Aden University, drawing widespread anger and condemnation among students, academics, and southern activists alike.
They have called for a review and verification of the academic theses awarded to a number of local leaders and officials loyal to the coalition, in order to restore the university’s credibility.
