Parliament calls on Inter-Parliamentary Union to support Yemen

SANAA, Feb. 25 (YPA) – Speaker of the Sanaa-based House of Representatives, Yahya Ali Al-Ra’i, sent a message to the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and its General Secretariat about Yemen.

in the letter, the council called on the Inter-Parliamentary Union and its General Secretariat to assume their legal, humanitarian, moral and historical parliamentary responsibilities and tasks in light of the brutal aggression, destructive war, comprehensive siege, displacement and migration of the population that Yemen has been subjected to by the Saudi-UAE coalition, as well as the internationally prohibited American and British weapons, in flagrant violation of national laws and international conventions, and in violation of Yemen’s sovereignty, in addition to the occupation of vast areas of Yemeni lands without legal, humanitarian or moral deterrent.

The council’s letter indicated that the aggression on Yemen did not stop, but rather went beyond that to the efforts of the aggression coalition countries and their attempt to legitimize remaining in the occupation of parts of Yemeni lands and islands and the continued violation of national sovereignty, including the effort to control the Qishn port in Mahrah province under the pretext of leasing it to a company that specializes primarily in mining work, in a clear violation of the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen, national laws and international conventions.

It held the coalition countries fully responsible for these actions, calling on the presidency of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and its General Secretariat to take a clear and declared position condemning these measures in a way that ensures support for the Republic of Yemen in preserving its independence, respecting the sovereignty and unity of its territories, and protecting its rights.
