SANAA, Feb. 23 (YPA) – Pro-Palestine activists blocked the road leading to the US-Australia joint military base Pine Gap, in solidarity with colonized peoples, individuals and organizations around the world.
“Pine Gap” is the most important US military base outside the United States and is instrumental in the genocide in Palestine, and the illegal blockade of Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Iran.
The military operations officials in Arinte demanded the closure of the base, the return of their land and compensation.
They said that thousands of military bases, both foreign and domestic, around the world were an essential part of the war machine that must be dismantled.
They also stressed that closing military bases is a necessary step to transform the global security model towards a demilitarized and non-colonial approach that focuses on common security, as no one is safe until everyone is safe.
