Palestinian Return Centre hosts international conference on “Genocide and International Law”

LONDON, Feb. 22 (YPA) -The Palestinian Return Centre held an international conference titled “Genocide: Global Responsibility Towards Gaza” in the British capital, London.

The conference was attended by leaders, legal experts, advocates, and voices from Gaza to discuss the genocide against the Gaza Strip and the urgent need for international accountability.

Participants explored “Genocide and International Law,” while also highlighting the lived experiences and resilience of Gazans in the face of adversity. They also addressed international solidarity with Gaza and discussed ways to transform advocacy into actionable steps to achieve justice.

The conference featured contributions from American international lawyer of Palestinian descent, Lara Elborno, Neve Gordon, Professor of International Law at Queen Mary University, and Haydee Dijkstal, a barrister specializing in international criminal law and human rights law.

Among the participants were 14 student associations from across the United Kingdom, emphasizing the importance of youth-led initiatives in advocating for Gaza and supporting global justice.

Participating groups included the Palestine Society at Roehampton University, Students for Justice in Palestine at the University of Houston, Friends of Palestine at the University of Birmingham, and students from University College London (UCL) and King’s College London for Justice in Palestine.

Additionally, participants included Christ Church students standing in solidarity with Palestine, as well as student societies for Palestine from Newcastle University, the University of Leicester, the University of Greenwich, Imperial College, the University of Sussex, and Kingston University.
