SANAA, Feb. 11 (YPA) – The leader of the Yemeni revolution, Abdulmalik al-Houthi, emphasized in his speech on Tuesday, marking the anniversary of the U.S. Marines’ withdrawal from Sanaa a decade ago, that this retreat represented a significant victory and achievement for the Yemeni people.
He explained that the Marines’ departure signified the failure of the U.S. project to gain full control over Yemen.
Sayyed Abdulmalik affirmed that this withdrawal was a major and meaningful outcome of the September 21 Revolution. He stated that the Americans had been working to push Yemen towards collapse in various sectors, exploiting political crises to strengthen their influence.
“The United States had invested in weakening Yemen’s military capacity and sought to establish their dominance by creating military bases,” he said.
He pointed out that continued U.S. presence would have resulted in their bases spreading across strategic locations in Yemen.
The revolution leader referenced the significance of the February 11 Revolution, noting that some had deviated it from its original path. He affirmed that the September 21 Revolution emerged as a corrective movement to realign its course.
