ADEN, Feb. 06 (YPA) – The coalition-backed Aden government’s oil company announced raising the price of a 20-litre gallon of petrol to 31,800 Yemeni riyals, which equals $127.74 ,an increase of 25 riyals per litre.
The government’s decision sparked serious concerns about the deterioration of living conditions in light of the increasing financial burdens on citizens, especially with the continued total outage of the electricity and water systems, which further complicates their daily lives.
The decision came in conjunction with the sharp deterioration in the value of the Yemeni riyal against the dollar, as the exchange rate exceeded the 2,250 riyal barrier to the dollar.
The economic collapse was directly reflected in the prices of basic food commodities, which in turn witnessed unprecedented increases, leading to a deepening of the living crisis and citizens feeling constant pressure to secure their essential supplies.
