Spain rejects Trump’s proposal to displace Gaza residents

MADRID, Feb. 05 (YPA) – Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares announced on Wednesday his rejection of US President Donald Trump’s proposal to resettle Gaza residents elsewhere and turn the Strip into what he described as the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

Albares said to reporters that “Gaza is the land of the Palestinians, and its residents should remain there,” stressing that it is part of the future Palestinian state that enjoys Spain’s support.

Trump revealed on Tuesday his surprise plan at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is visiting the United States, without providing further details about the idea.

On the other hand, China expressed its opposition to any forced displacement of Gaza residents, while Russia affirmed its support for the two-state solution as a way to resolve the conflict.
