MARIB, Feb. 05 (YPA) – A number of members of the Qifa tribe residing in Marib held an emergency meeting on Tuesday following the death of Rashid Al-Hatam, a poet from the Qifa tribe in Bayda province, who died due to torture in one of the Islah party’s prisons in the city.
Sanan Jaroun, a sheikh of the Qifa tribe loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in Marib, accused the so-called “Political Security” of assassinating poet Al-Hatam. He called for an investigation and demanded that those responsible for the incident be brought to justice.
In a video shared on social media, a meeting of the Qifa tribe members was shown discussing the killing of Al-Hatam under torture.
Jaroun emphasized that his blood would not be shed in vain, as it symbolized the blood of all innocent people.
Jaroun explained that Al-Hatam’s chants were in celebration of the cessation of the war on Gaza.
He pointed out that the poet had never been loyal to the Sanaa government and had no ties to the Houthis (Ansarullah) or the coalition. Al-Hatam had chanted “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great) and “Death to America and Israel.”
The poet was abducted in Marib, which is under the control of Islah forces, in mid-January after posting a video on his Facebook page.
In the video, he was seen crying out “Allahu Akbar, Death to America and Israel” during a demonstration in central Marib Street celebrating the halt of the war on Gaza.
