Gaza government expresses dismay at UN agencies stockpiling fuel, as hospitals face catastrophic conditions
GAZA, Feb. 04 (YPA) – The Palestinian Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday condemned the negligence of UN agencies storing fuel while hospitals in the strip face a disaster due to a fuel shortage.
In a statement, the media office expressed its dissatisfaction with the accumulation of thousands of liters in the warehouses of UN agencies, as the hospitals and humanitarian institutions are suffering from a severe shortage.
The statement stressed that this situation, especially in the northern Gaza Strip, poses a threat to the lives of patients and considered it a contradiction with the humanitarian and moral duty, indicating that this negligence represents a serious failure to perform tasks during an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
The Israeli occupation forces, during the recent genocide war on the Gaza Strip, demolished entire hospitals, rendering them non-operational. The remaining facilities are severely lacking in medical resources, exacerbating the already dire conditions for the wounded and the sick.
The World Health Organization confirmed that restoring the health system in Gaza is a complex task due to the destruction and restrictions resulting from the Israeli aggression. The process requires huge investments amounting to billions of dollars and a continuous commitment from donors and the international community. Experts stated that rebuilding the health system may take about 12 years.
