Former Syrian military commander assassinated in Jableh

SANAA, Feb. 02 (YPA) – A former military commander in the Syrian army was assassinated by members of the Syrian armed groups in the city of Jableh in Latakia governorate.

The Syrian Observatory reported that residents of Al-Fayd neighborhood in Jableh city found the body of the leader of the “Jableh Hawks” group, affiliated with “Suhail al-Hassan”, killed after he was assassinated by gunmen while he was with two of his guards.

It is worth noting that the “Jableh Hawks” group is one of the factions loyal to the Syrian government in the past.

According to the Syrian Observatory’s documentation, the number of revenge and liquidation operations since the beginning of 2025 in various Syrian governorates has reached 112 operations, killing 231 people, including 224 men, 6 women, and a child.
